Holy Week in Puglia
Day 1: Welcome activities and walk in the historic town of Ruvo di Puglia followed by dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight stay at Casa Rubis (Ruvo di Puglia).
Day 2: in the early morning at about 2.30, possibility to walk to the central square of the city of Ruvo di Puglia (a few steps from CasaRubis) to attend the most evocative and followed ritual of the Holy Week in Puglia: the procession of the “Otto Santi” ; the statuary group representing the Deposition of Christ is carried in a procession in the middle of the night, in the religious silence of the city, in the light of the sun torches of the faithful. In the morning, return to CasaRubis for breakfast. Afterwards, possibility to go to Castel del Monte, the manor, built by Frederick II of Swabia in the thirteenth century, which dominates, with its massive octagonal structure, the small stretch of the western Murge. Return to Ruvo di Puglia. Afternoon dedicated to relax. In the evening, typical dinner in the restaurant and return to CasaRubis for overnight.
Day 3: Departure for Molfetta in the early morning (3.30am) and participation in the religious ceremony of the “Procession of the Five Mysteries”, a mystical rite among the streets of the historical center. In the morning return to Ruvo di Puglia and breakfast at Casa Rubis. Morning available for free visits. Lunch arranged by partecipants. There will be time available in the late afternoon to visit Ruvo di Puglia and attend the “Procession of the Mysteries” in the streets of the historic center. In the evening, dinner in tipical restaurant by and overnight stay at Casa Rubis.
Day 3: Breakfast and time available for visiting the historic center of Ruvo di Puglia, to immerse yourself in the Easter culinary traditions; possibility of buying typical local products sold in stores, along the streets of the historic center: bakeries and historical pastry shops will open their doors and welcome visitors in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In the afternoon, possibility to attend the “Procession of Piety” ritual, always the most evocative of the Holy Week events in Puglia. In the evening, dinner in tipical restaurants and overnight stay at Casa Rubis.
Day 4: Breakfast based on typical local products. In the morning, it will be possible to attend the events organized for Easter Sunday. The most awaited ritual at Ruvo di Puglia is the outbreak of the “Quarantane”, puppets of black clothes, hanging on the streets of the town during the forty days preceding Easter, they are an ancient and curious symbol of the Lenten tradition. Lunch based on typical products of the Easter Apulian tradition in restaurant. The afternoon will be available for free visits. In the evening, dinner arranged by the participants and overnight stay at Casa Rubis.
Day 5: Breakfast and end of tour
- Transfer to/from Bari airport (to confirm depending on number of partecipants)
- Welcome drink

- 5 nights accommodation at the delightful B&B Casa Rubis in the heart of the Ruvo di Puglia historic town
- Daily breakfast
